If you ever look into the list of the highest-earning YouTubers many of you will be surprised to see the kids and teens ranging from ages 8 to 15 also are in those lists. Let's take an example of Channel named Rayn's World in the Youtube channel, His earning in 2018 was 26 Million Dollars, He has currently 26.2 Million Subscribers in his channel. He is also one of the highest-earning YouTuber through the sale of his merch and toys. 

Another example is Anastasia Radzinkaya, She owns a channel name Like Nastya, She makes 18 million dollars a year according to report in 2018. She was 5 years old back then. She also has her own brands and other brands like Legoland are signing her to be their brand's Face.

I have recently been viewing the video of little Shailyn Shrestha, who rose to popularity with her videos like Soltee, Now brands like Daraz and Khalti are sponsoring her videos. I have seen lots of Nepali content creators recently in the years, We have Random Nepali, Sisan baniya's vlogs, Chetan Karki's Vlogs, Awenest podcast, Paradgym TV, Fun Revolution TV, Movie Reviewers like Pranesh Gautam who went to jail for it, Trailer Reviews by Sajan Shrestha, Political comments by Bishal Gautam, Baaki Samachar by Kooky Dunk, Herne Katha, Ananda Nepal, Some Roasting channels and many more. Many youngsters out there are trying different contents, research, political comments, social comments, entrepreneurial contents in Nepal too. This is giving rise to information sharing which is very good.

Recently, I get inboxed by young teenager saying, Please subscribe to my channel, please like my videos, please share my video, etc. It is awesome to see teenagers like them coming up with content, they are learning and sharing their ideas and worldviews. I get excited to see those kinds of contents because they are trying to exercise their freedom of expression through their contents. But what makes me afraid is the very nature of people in Nepal. We know what kinds of trash content get exposure and in the trending list, you don't believe me? Try checking youtube's trending list and question ourselves what kind of content we consume every day. In this scenario, I am afraid the ever trying hard nature of our teenagers will be discouraged or on contrary they start to make the contents that they see viral on youtube. In midst of Lockdown we saw a similar case like that with a boy named Ayush Khadka, he was creating the type of content that he saw that was in trend then, he also got the taste of virality. Content creation is not wrong in itself but what type of content that is being created and curated is the problem here in Nepal.

Truly what I believe is we also have those talents like Ryan and Anastasia who can be next millionaire, and as we can see Shaylin Shrestha getting brands investing in her, maybe other teenagers also can pull the attention of brands for their content. But it takes the support of Family, Parents, You and I too let that happen. We need to encourage students to create content that is informational, educational, create value, and get watched on youtube. But when Teenagers or any content creators come asking for your support you don't need to shun them, discourage them, or bully them.

Recently in the midst of Tiktok vs Youtube war Shristi Shrestha who was a TikTok, made a video on youtube. I am not saying her content was lit, but she gave a try and the roast that was made on a 15 years old girl was too much. We know it happens usually when you put yourself in the public domain, we are bound to be criticized and made fun of, that is the fear I have. I know many of us are trying to bring the content out, but are fearful of constant mocking and trolling. This is the new era of bullying, and if we do that we are silencing many potential talents among us. We don't need to bully the teenagers who are trying out to bring contents, we don't need to troll or mock them. If we are talking about depression, suicide, and all other mental illness, let's keep in mind that online harassment or bullying to a teenage mind and its impact on them in the future. So next time, when young ones ask you to subscribe to their channels or contents, do subscribe to them, if they need correction, change, or more research, please do tell them in a private message but you don't need to mock and criticize the upcoming generation. Let these young ones grow to the best talent we have in our country and since Youtube is a global platform, maybe with our little encouragement and help, they might be the next Pewdiepie or Ryan or Anastasia
